Fermentation Tank

Fermentation is a process where microorganisms (e.g., bacteria, yeast) break down organic matter (typically sugars) in an anaerobic environment to obtain energy. This process requires maintaining a constant temperature while agitating the fermentation broth to ensure material uniformity and timely venting of metabolic byproduct gases.Therefore, as a fermentation vessel, the fermentation tank is an atmospheric stainless steel container equipped with temperature control, agitation, temperature monitoring, and other essential systems.

 Design Core: Preventing contamination is critical for successful fermentation. All parts in contact with materials (tank, pipelines, valves, etc.) feature dead-leg-free design.
Material: Main body is made of 304/316 stainless steel, ensuring easy cleaning, sterilization, corrosion resistance, and no harmful substance release.
Sealing: The tank is equipped with reliable mechanical seals (shaft seals) to maintain sterility where the stirring shaft penetrates the tank.
Sterilization Methods:In-situ sterilization (CIP, Clean In Place) using saturated steam (121°C, 15-30 min) or chemical disinfectants to thoroughly sterilize the entire system (tank, pipelines, filters, etc.).Air is filtered through sterile-grade filters (0.22μm/0.1μm cartridges) before entering the tank.

Aeration: Aerobic fermentation requires a continuous supply of sterile air . Gas is evenly dispersed via sterile air spargers (ring pipe, single pipe, microporous diffuser).
Mixing: The mixing system (motor, shaft, impeller) breaks bubbles, enhances gas-liquid contact, improves oxygen dissolution (higher KLa), and maintains uniformity (temperature, pH, nutrient concentration).
Impeller Types: Common options include paddle, anchor, propeller, and helical impellers, selected based on broth viscosity and aeration needs.

Geometry: Cylindrical tank with elliptical/dished sealing heads for optimal mixing and dead-leg-free sterilization.
Manhole/Sight glass:Manhole (with quick-open sterile cover) on top/side for maintenance, inoculation, and observation.
Sight glass or illumination port for internal monitoring.
Safety Devices: Pressure gauges, safety valves, rupture discs, etc., ensure operational safety.
Jacket/Insulation: Temperature-controlled jacket with an outer insulation layer to reduce energy consumption.
